Change is scary.
Even when it’s to the benefit of employees, there will be resistance. Because people deal with change at varying rates: ✅ Some will be excited and on board right away ✅ Others will resist and never embrace it ✅ The majority will be somewhere in between Even major change, though, can be accepted by most people. 🚩 First, remember change is a process. It’s not something that is communicated one day and done the next. 🚩 Second, it’s critical to communicate early and often. 𝑰𝒇 𝒏𝒐𝒕, 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒂 𝒗𝒐𝒊𝒅, 𝒘𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒆𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒐𝒚𝒆𝒆𝒔 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒇𝒊𝒍𝒍, 𝒐𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒏 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏. The communication should include the good from what is being left behind. Do that before talking about the advantages of the new, and people will more readily accept the change. 🚩 Next, don't focus only on the rational reasons (the business case), a very common mistake. Instead, also address the emotional and the political. 🚩 Finally, train your managers. You want them to know what to say to their employees, who have questions. In short, a systematic approach, involving communication and trained managers, will ensure success. #leadership #management #employeeengagement

Not challenging the status quo is easy and comfortable, but it's also not a place of growth. To stay competitive, companies have to identify new and better ways of doing business, then, actually do them.
#culture #leadership #employeeengagement As inspirational today as it was then, I recently listened again to Simon Sinek’s TED Talk: “How great Leaders Inspire Action”.
He discusses the importance of the need to focus on 𝙬𝙝𝙮 organizations do what they do, not on 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 they do, or 𝙝𝙤𝙬 they do it. As he says “people don’t buy 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 you do; they buy 𝙬𝙝𝙮 you do it.” This focus on 𝙬𝙝𝙮, is the epitome of a purpose-driven organization. In the same way that customers are motivated to do business with these companies, so employees are inspired to work there. Having a higher purpose articulates how employees make a difference, giving them a strong sense of meaning in their everyday work. If leaders dedicate themselves to supporting their organization’s purpose, engagement scores will climb. As a result: ✅ Your best employees will stay longer. ✅ It will be easier to recruit excellent candidates. ✅ They’ll be motivated to complete projects well and on time ✅ Productivity will increase ✅ Absenteeism rates will fall ✅ Customer satisfaction scores will be higher Articulate your 𝙬𝙝𝙮, and reap the benefits. #employeeengagement #culture #leadership |
